Medicines and universal health coverage: challenges and opportunities

Editorial to the Thematic series of the Journal of pharmaceutical policy and practice: “Medicines in health systems working towards universal health coverage”. Introduces the challenges of escalating medicine costs and the leverage offered by universal coverage to manage medicines with the objective of equitable access and system sustainability in addition to introducing the papers in the thematic series.
