Embedding research in health policy and systems in the Americas

This commentary argues for the need to put greater emphasis to overall health systems reforms and how provider payment mechanisms (such as pay for performance) interact with these rather than looking narrowly and independently at the provider payment mechanisms themselves isolated from the underlying health system for these mechanisms to effectively contribute to UHC
