Centre for Systematic Reviews in Health Policy and Systems Research (SPARK). Health care workers in conflict and post-conflict settings: A scoping review protocol

Project document

Health care workers (HCWs) are essential to the delivery of care in conflict areas and in rebuilding health systems post-conflict. However, HCWs around the world are being killed, threatened and detained. A report by the “Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition” provides an overview of attacks on health care workers that took place in 19 countries in 2015 and during the first three months of 2016. The protocol outlined is for a scoping review to identify and map out the published evidence on HCWs in conflict and post-conflict settings. The findings of this review and the resulting gap map can support policy makers working on rebuilding health systems post-conflict. It can also inform the research agendas of funders and researchers working in the field of health care workers in conflict and post-conflict settings. This scoping review will also inform areas for potential systematic reviews in the field.
