Improving the uptake of rapid reviews

Book

Chapter 8: Improving the uptake of rapid reviews identifies barriers to the use of rapid reviews, and suggests several methods to help facilitate increased uptake by decision-makers.
Some of the strategies to enhance evidence uptake discussed in the chapter include: raising awareness of the importance of rapid reviews; conducting workshops on how to identify reviews and appraise their quality; embedding policy-makers on the rapid review team and fostering collaboration between researchers and policy-makers; providing the review in a timely manner for decision‑making; and establishing rapid response services to address policy-maker queries.
When writing rapid review reports, this chapter recommends reporting the methods transparently, focusing the bulk of the report on the results and interpretation, and including policy implications relevant to the target audiences, in order to promote efficient uptake of research results by decision-makers.
