Barriers and facilitators to implementation, uptake and sustainability of community-based health insurance schemes in low- and middle-income countries: a systematic review

Journal article

As part of its efforts to ensure universal health coverage, the MOPH was considering community-based health insurance targeting individuals not covered for ambulatory care by other insurance schemes. Discussions with these officials made it clear that the needed evidence was about the barriers and facilitators to the implementation, uptake and sustainability of community-based health insurance schemes. Accordingly, SPARK proceeded with conducting this systematic review. The findings of the review are being incorporated in a guidance document that will be shared with relevant policymakers and stakeholders.
