Primary health care and nutrition
This article argues that tackling the double burden of malnutrition is an urgent global health and development challenge. It provides an overview of similarities and links across the nutrition, primary health care and universal health coverage (UHC) agendas, presenting past and present debates on this issue. It uses a conceptual framework based on human rights and the Astana Declaration of 2018 on revitalizing primary health care to examine existing recommendations and propose guidance for policy-makers on how community-oriented primary health care can strengthen the role of nutrition within the UHC agenda.
